Michael Platini - top scorer in EURO history

Top scorer in the history of EURO is Michael Platini, the current president of UEFA, who scored 9 goals on EUROs.

Platini was the player of the French national team, and was born on 21 June 1955t. He had a very successful football career, in which he was participating in three World Cup (1978, 1982 and 1986) and one EURO 1984.

On EURO 1984 his team, France, won the EURO 1984 title, and Michael Platini was the EURO 1984 top scorer with 9 goals, which is also a record of all the EUROs. This means, Platini is the player who scored most goals in the history of the EURO.

An interesting fact is that Platini played only on that one EURO (EURO 1984) and scored 9 goals, which failed to reach any other player who could participate in more than one EURO. For example, the second on the list of scorers in the EURO history is Alan Shearer who scored 7 goals in total, of which 5 at EURO 1996 and 2 on EURO 2000.
